The Bullied Brain

Join award-winning educator and best-selling author, Jennifer Fraser as she coaches you in ways to heal your scars and restore your health. Grounded in the practices Jennifer developed for her newly published book The Bullied Brain, learn evidence-based ways to work with your brain, not against it. Discover the ways in which your brain is incredibly adept at repair regardless of the harm done. Put into action effective ways to oust outdated brain patterns and replace them with healthy, happy new ones. One of the world’s leading and most highly awarded neuroscientists, Dr. Michael Merzenich says that The Bullied Brain: Heal Your Scars and Restore Your Health is “scientifically the most thorough treatment of the subject on planet earth.” Dedicate ten afternoons to a dynamic, engaging, active re-alignment of your Mind-Brain-Body.

  • Learn how all forms of bullying and abuse can harm your brain
  • Develop a set of key neuroplasticity principles in order to repair harm done
  • Consciously set in motion unlearning in a society that normalizes bullying and abuse
  • Unpack your brain’s tendency to identify with the aggressor
  • Focus your energy on aligning your mind-brain-body
  • Use your mind to optimize your brain health
  • Activate your body to optimize your brain health
  • Replace the “mind-bully” with an empathic coach

The overarching goal of the course is for learners to begin to “see” and “speak with” their brains. They will learn how to visualize their brain and their brain maps. They will learn how to dialogue in ways that help their brains repair and respond more effectively / healthily to the present.

This course is experiential each step of the way, constructed on the premise that we have neuroplasticity or brain plasticity. That means we can change our brains by what we practice. We can override neural networks that are outdated or that harm us. We can rewire neural networks in order to better fulfill our potential, our purpose, rediscover our essential / authentic self, tap back into joy and wisdom and health.

We’ll practice ten practical techniques or tools like mindfulness but with a focus on recovery from bullying and abuse by retraining the brain. We will practice during the 3 hours each week how to do these kinds of exercises. We will touch on the science but only as a way to learn methods to repair harm to our brains.

Because everyone has a unique brain, the course is not a one size fits all model. It will allow participants to develop their own brain programs and we will share with one another what that might look like.

About the book:

Why do we say we have zero tolerance for bullying, but adult society is rife with it and it is an epidemic among children?

Because the injuries that all forms of bullying and abuse do to brains are invisible. We ignore them, fail to heal them, and they become cyclical and systemic.

Bullying and abuse are at the source of much misery in our lives. Because we are not taught about our brains, let alone how much they are impacted by bullying and abuse, we do not have a way to avoid this misery, heal our scars, or restore our health. In The Bullied Brain readers learn about the evidence doctors, psychiatrists, neuropsychologists and neuroscientists have gathered, that shows the harm done by bullying and abuse to your brain, and how you can be empowered to protect yourself and all others. Not only is it critically important to discover how much your mental health is contingent on what has sculpted and shaped the world inside your head, it is also the first step in learning ways to recover.

While your brain is vulnerable to bullying and abuse, it is at the same time remarkably adept at repairing all kinds of traumas and injuries. The first part of The Bullied Brain outlines what the research shows bullying and abuse do to your brain. The second part of the book, “The Stronger Brain” provides case studies of adults and children who have undergone focused training to heal their neurological scars and restore their health. These accessible and practical lessons can be integrated into your life. Strengthening your brain acts as an effective antidote to the bullying and abuse that are rampant in society.

Foreword by Dr. Michael Merzenich, “the father of neuroplasticity,” and he also contributes his knowledge, insights, and research in The Bullied Brain to help show you how to empower your brain to fulfill its power and potential.
