Leah Hokanson

Leah Hokanson is a a life-long adventurer of sound and listening—as a classical pianist, vocalist, choral director, improviser, singer/songwriter; and now as a facilitator of programs exploring vocal sounding and listening as vibrational portals to healing and Wholeness. She lives on Gabriola Island, BC, surrounded by natural beauty, with gratitude for our community, and the Coast Salish people—specifically the Snuneymuxw First Nation.

Over the years she has had the pleasure and privilege of working with several pioneers of vocal improvisation and vocal sound healing, including Chloé Goodchild, David Hatfield, Jill Purce, Rhiannon, and Karina Schelde. Her work is also informed by the teachings of David Bohm, Carl Jung, Krishnamurti, Mary Oliver, Pauline Oliveros, Alan Watts, and others.

Leah writes, produces, and performs her own music and in 2019 released Facets, her first album of original songs. Leah has also composed and recorded two volumes of chants (called Diamond Chants)—musical settings of ecstatic poetry by Rumi, Hafiz, Hildegard of Bingen, Mirabai and others—joyfully collaborating with the Song Keepers Women’s Choir (Gabriola) and the Fabulous Fufonics (First Unitarian Fellowship of Nanaimo).

She is honoured and excited to be collaborating with Lynette Jackson offering Vibrational Belonging and Wholeness.
