Giving Voice
With Leah Hokanson
June 19 - 21, 2020
Giving Voice is an embodied exploration of the question: What does it mean to be a vibrational being living in a vibratory Universe, born with an innate vibrational medium called the voice? Giving Voice blends spiritual inquiry with conscious vocal exploration as an opening to healing, transformation and connection.
From simple humming to toning and chanting, from playful gibberish to pre-verbal and animal sounds, we are born to make sound. Yet many of us were told as children that we should be “seen and not heard,” or that we should “mouth the words” because we “can’t carry a tune.”
Our culture primarily recognizes the voice as a tool for speaking and singing (for those we deem “singers”). As a result, much of the power and possibility of the voice has been muted, both individually and collectively. Yet any self-created sound expressed consciously has the potential to heal and transform — literally right under our noses.
Using guided sounding meditation, interactive play, and focused listening, we will create a safe and enlivening environment to explore the voice’s vast capacity as a vehicle for self-expression; as a vibrational healing medium; as a timeless, universal avenue of belonging; and as a meditative portal to deeper presence and awareness. No prior experience is required.
This program is for you if:
- are curious about the voice as a vehicle for healing and transformation.
- feel shy or blocked and want to let your voice out!
- want more freedom to fully express yourself.
- want to explore the voice as a powerful portal to the present moment.
- want to celebrate in community the magic of uniting with our voices.
