Join us for the first part of our Day of Grief & Gratitude!  We will start by communing on Zoom to acknowledge and address our individual and collective sorrows, our grieving, our mourning of changes, endings, uncertainties and losses.

In the spring, the Haven applied for an Act Local, Think Global grant to continue to build relationships with and better serve our local Gabriola community. Thanks to this funding from the Holistic Centres Network, support from PHC, and dedication from several volunteers, participation in this workshop is FREE.

Meet Your Facilitators & Support:

The Haven is collaborating with People for a Healthy Community (PHC) to delivery this 90-minute online exploration.

Linda Nicholls, DipC is an elder, serving as a guide in transformational circle work for more than thirty-five years in North America and internationally.  She has worked intimately with people of all ages and several cultures leading programs that focus on body, breath and energy training; conscious breathwork; shadow exploration; communication skills; sexuality; grieving; defining boundaries; conscious alternatives to depression; reviewing and renewing relationships; guiding teens and youth into their adulthood, and more.

People for a Health Community is a community-based not for profit organization serving Gabriola Island. PHC supports individuals and families during vulnerable times in their lives while strengthening community resilience. Vulnerability can occur at any stage of life, in an acute or chronic way.  Their programs focus on key social determinants of health, including reducing social isolation.

Workshop Highlights:

In the Day of Grief & Gratitude Online workshop you can expect:

  • information about grieving separations, losses and endings
  • a brief experiential exercise
  • group discussion and Q&A
  • opportunities to connect with others, with support from PHC hospice volunteers and Haven faculty
  • a connective experience with candles – please have one and matches or a lighter handy!
  • information on local support available through PHC and a list of free resources

Whether transitions are planned or unpredicted, whether changes are chosen or beyond our control, they are endings demanding that we leave people, things, places, or a way of life behind. Join us to learn about the conscious practice of grieving.

Technical requirements:

This online program will be hosted on Zoom, a video conferencing software that is free for participants and easy to use on a variety of devices. You are highly encouraged to join with a video-capable device with reliable internet connection and good audio.

If you do not have internet access or do not have a device, we still want you to join us! In your registration confirmation email, you will find dial-in instructions that will allow you to connect by phone. Please note that your experience will be slightly different without the visual components.

We welcome and encourage you to join the session 15 minutes early to receive technical support and connect informally with others before we begin.

We may record some of the teaching components of this workshop so that participants and community members unable to join live can access some of Linda’s offering. Participant audio and video will not be recorded.
